The Belmez Faces!

In 1971, in the small Spanish village of Belmez, Maria Pereira claimed a human face spontaneously appeared on her cement kitchen floor. It wasn't long before she destroyed the floor and replaced it - and a new face promptly appeared.

More and more faces continued to appear on the floor of Maria Pereira's kitchen, attracting thousands of visitors every day. Some were male, some female, some large, and some small. In time, she discovered that the house, built around 1830, apparently stood above a graveyard used by the Romans, Spanish Muslims and then Medieval Christians.

But did Maria Pereira just paint the faces herself?

If so, she never benefited financially from all the attention. She lived a simple life in that same house and eventually died in 2004.

The Mummy Baby: 6500 Years old Peruvian Child Mummy

This Peruvian child mummy, known as the "Detmold Child," has been radiocarbon dated to 4504-4457 B.C. more than 3,000 years before the birth of King Tut. The child, which was about 10 months old when it died, naturally mummified in the hot, arid desert environment.

More than 6,500 years ago in Peru, this tiny baby's brief battle for life finally came to an end. The child, no more than 10 months old, had a serious heart defect and suffered from growth problems.

After contracting pneumonia and then suffering circulation failure the sick child died and was wrapped in linen and buried with an amulet hung around its neck.

Belle Gunness (1859-1908)

Belle Sorenson Gunness was a Norwegian-American serial killer. The physically very strong woman killed most of her suitors and boyfriends, and her two daughters. She may also have killed all of her children and both of her husbands, on different occasions. Her motive was collecting life insurance benefits… and also, the assets stolen or swindled from her suitors became her source of income. Some reports estimate that Gunness killed over 40 people over several decades and most of them were poisoned. Gunness was never caught for the murders and what happened to her was never known. On the record, her death is listed as April 1908, the last time she was seen alive.

Giant golden-crowned flying fox

Philippine troops captured something that appears like a giant bat, and even look at him creates a massive horror, especially for those who had the chance to see it fly across the sky........
It is a mythical beast “Chupacabra”, which feeds on the blood of animals, at least that is what myths and legends say. Scientific explanation is very simple: it is a flying fox (Pteropus), a type of megabats.

The giant bat caught by the Philippines Army was spreading fear among the population. Even military personnel could not believe what a monster is flying across the sky.

Judging by the local media reports this creature was, to put it mildly, terrified all of those who had a chance to see it.

Local people call it “Chupacabra”, which is equivalent for mythical animal of South America.
The myth of the existence of Chupacabra is from Puerto Rico, but over the years has spread to other countries in Central and South America, such as Costa Rica, Mexico and Peru.

There is also a scientific explanation – it is a huge bat, endangered species known as giant flying fox. He lives in the forests of Indonesia and the Philippines.

There are very few of them left, because of the killings and destruction of their natural habitats, so it is hard to see them in nature.

Stonehenge Mystery !!

Stonehenge is located on the Salisbury Plain. It is a great mystery who built this massive stone circle. Theories include Druids, the Greeks, U.F.O.s and Atlanteans. Although the biggest mystery is why they built Stonehenge. Some say it was a sacrificial altar or that it was an astronomical tool, back in the 18th century it was even proposed that Stonehenge was used as a gallows.

What we do know about Stonehenge is that it is aligned with many astronomical events. One alignment is the sun on the summer solstice rising directly over the heel stone (A) viewed from the Altar stone (B).
Stonehenge lies on the largest ley line in Britain. This ley line runs down the longest portion of Britain. Fourteen or so other ley lines meet at Stonehenge.

Stonehenge was built in three parts over a period of 1000 years. The first part was just a mound, ditch and Aubrey holes that were dug to make a circle. The second was when timbers were erected systematically all inside the circle. The third was when the lintel stones were erected and the bluestones set up into the Stonehenge we see today.

Disappearing Dust Cloud Baffles Astronomers !!

A team of researchers observed a young star surrounded by a circumstellar disk of dusty material using data from 1983, 2008, 2009 and 2010. Planets often arise from these disks. The star, which the team estimates to be 10 million years old, is 450 light-years from Earth in the constellation Centaurus.

The infrared emission patterns of the star's system, which can be used to measure how much dust the disk contains, were very similar in 1983 and 2008, but in 2009 the infrared emission had dropped precipitously, and in 2010 it was almost gone. The results were detailed in the July 5 issue of Nature. (Scientific American is part of Nature Publishing Group.) Researchers contributed from University of California Los Angeles, U.C. San Diego, California State Polytechnic University, University of Georgia and The Australian National University.

The artist's conception of the solar system, filled with dust (before) and empty (after), illustrates the dramatic change between researchers' observations in 2008 and 2010.

Astronomers had never before witnessed such a rapid disappearance of interstellar dust, and it challenges prior models of planetary formation. The research team has some hypotheses about the cause of the rapid change but has not come to any conclusions yet.

Titanoboa - World’s Giant Snake

Apart from watching them in movies who could have imagined in their wildest dreams that in reality there could be snakes measuring forty to fifty feet long (12 to 15 metres). Even the pythons and anacondas haven’t exceeded this limit. But Cerrejon which is the largest mining operation in Columbia and among the largest open pit mines in the world remains a witness to this mind boggling and bewildering view.Fossils of 28 Titanoboa Cerrejonensis were discovered in this region.

Fifty eight to sixty million years ago which takes us back to thePalaeocene era , the period immediately following the end of the dinosaur age, Cerrejon was a marshy jungle and was home to these giant snakes. The structure of this giant creature’s vertebrae closely resembled the boa constrictor and its home was Cerrejon. Therefore scientists called it Titanoboa Cerrejonensis. Dr.Jonathan Bloch was a part of the team that discovered Titanoboa’s fossils. These histrionic creatures weighed approximately 1135 kgs and were more than 40 feet long. The thickest part of its body measured about 3 feet (1 metre) in diameter. It would be nearly as high as a man’s waist.The warm climate of the tropics in the past was a major reason for their wondrous weight and length. The temperature during those times averaged approximately 30-34 degrees Celsius which was comparatively warmer compared to the modern age.

Snakes being poikilotherms require warmer climates for powering their metabolism.It was only because of such warm climates that the cold blooded creatures were able to reach such magnificent sizes. Presently, larger ectothermic animals are found in the tropics and the smaller ones are found away from the equator.

The Smithsonian channel had even recreated this monster snake by creating a film that showcases the discovery of the giant creature that existed 60 million years ago. It was promoted by a life size statue displayed in Grand Central Station in New York City.
